The Michigan Reading Association is broken down into 10 regions across the state of Michigan, serviced by our 10 Region Representatives. MRA works with local councils in these regions to provide support and professional development to members in every part of the state.
For information on a local council in your region, please see below or contact your local MRA representative.
Michigan Reading Association is proud to share with its members the following documents. The purpose of the literacy essentials is to increase Michigan’s capacity to improve children’s literacy by identifying a small set of research-supported literacy instructional practices that could be a focus of professional development throughout the state.
The focus of these documents are on classroom practices, rather than on school- or systems-level practices. Michigan Reading Association is proud to support the ongoing, collaborative work taking place across the Great Lakes State.
The following documents are the first of several to be shared.
Over the coming year, the Michigan Reading Association will participate in promoting the Little Free Library Project in partnership with the ILA International Project. MRA will be providing books authored/ illustrated by Michigan residents or books about the State of Michigan to little library projects across the United States and beyond. You can be a part of our efforts by gathering your own collection of Michigan books and donating them to your local Little Free Libraries. You can locate Little Free Libraries in your community by visiting the Little Free Library World Map and entering your zip code.
The Little Free Library Service Project Kit is a special guide that outlines a few simple steps for expanding access to reading resources in your community.
