Stephanie Affinito Loves Notebooks, Markers and Sticky Notes

As we look ahead to spring, MRA is moving its annual conference online during the weekend of March 12 to 14, 2021. One of our featured speakers is Stephanie Affinito, a former classroom teacher and literacy specialist, and now an educator at the University of Albany and a teaching coach.

In her own words: “I have a love for all things literacy teaching, coaching and leading. I’ve dedicated my career to creating spaces for learning that build teacher expertise, spark intentional reflection and connect philosophy to pedagogy.

I’ve carved out a little corner of the virtual world just for instructional coaches and leaders to fuel their work and receive the same level of support and energy they provide for their teachers.

My professional passion? I’ve fused my love of notebooks, markers and sticky notes with digital tools and technology to innovate instructional coaching and lifelong teacher reading, writing and learning. I read, write, create and share my experiences in teacher learning on multiple outlets to connect and collaborate with other educators. My work is intentional, fosters professional curiosity and models the pedagogy advocated for in classrooms to re-imagine teaching and learning for students.”

Looking for her Virtual Coaching Toolkit? Here it is!

She is the author of Literacy Coaching: Teaching and Learning with Digital Tools and Technology and Leading Literate Lives: Habits and Mindsets for Reimagining Classroom Practice
