Chartered in 1956 by the International Reading (Literacy) Association, MRA has grown to be the leader in providing literacy resources to teachers, parents and universities.

Our current regular membership is now considered a "Green Online" membership, where all communications will be digital. We have added a new level called Regular "Print" membership, this level will allow you to receive a print copy of the Michigan Reading Journal to be sent in the mail. The Michigan Reading Journal seeks (an) editor(s) for a three-year appointment (Fall 2023 - Spring 2026). 

The Michigan Reading Journal is the peer-reviewed journal of the Michigan Reading Association, which is composed of and serves classroom teachers, literacy specialists, instructional coaches, educational leaders, teacher educators, and university faculty. MRA is an affiliate of the International Literacy Association.

The Boards of the Michigan Association for Media in Education (MAME), the Michigan Council of Teachers of English (MCTE), and the Michigan Reading Association (MRA) announce that they jointly support a statement affirming Michigan’s students’ Freedom to Read. The full statement can be read here:
