The Faces of MRA

 By Lisa Rivard 2015-2016 President

Welcome to the Michigan Reading Association website! MRA’s Board of Directors is proud to serve by leading and supporting efforts to promote literacy throughout the Great Lakes State. We continue to partner with educators and businesses, support our local reading councils, and provide for rich resources within our communities. MRA continues to concentrate on important topics through committee work and projects. We have a legislative committee for literacy updates, an International Literacy project, and student projects such as Great Lakes, Great Books and Kaleidoscope. MRA recognizes the work of our members by awarding an author or illustrator within our state with the prestigious Gwen Frostic Award and various literacy awards to local teachers and administrators.

If you are new to MRA or considering a return, you can find membership information linked on this website. As a member, you will receive access to discounts at our annual conference in March and our summer conference. In addition, members receive our highly acclaimed journal, The MRJ. This quarterly publication is filled with timely and relevant articles from literacy experts across the state.

Browse our website to learn more about the Michigan Reading Association or call our headquarters at 1-616-647-9310. We look forward to working with you to promote literacy across our state!
